Heavy metal rockers and all-time greats Uriah Heep performed live at The Secret Garden at Jumeirah Creekside Hotel, on Friday, 10th November. This was the iconic band’s first live appearance in Dubai - the 61st country they performed live - which is out of their regular tour calendar that includes performances in Europe, North America and Japan. The Dubai show was a huge throwback to classic metal sounds of the 1970s.
Hundreds of Heep fans thronged The Secret Garden to watch Uriah Heep founding member Mick Box and his band belted out all-time favorites Gypsy, Very ‘eavy, Very ‘Umble, Look At Yourself, Stealin, The Magician’s Birthday and Easy Living. Lead singer Bernie Shaw, Phil Lanzon (keyboards), Davey Rimmer (bass) and Russell Gilbrook (drums) as they delivered a splendid 90-minute performance, including classic numbers like Lady in Black, One Minute, Between Two Worlds, much to the delight of the packed house full of old school, and some new, Heep fans.
Alongside Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, Uriah Heep were one of the most definitive bands of the 1970s, known for popular acoustic-inspired track Wizard and definitive progressive rock tune July Morning. They rose to great prominence and enjoyed a huge fan base in their heyday. The band has sold in excess of 40 million albums worldwide and continues to enjoy a great cult following to this day.
Uriah Heep’s live concert in Dubai was sponsored by Mohiudeen Wood Works Co. LLC (MWW), the oldest sawmilling company and largest importer of timber and logs in the Middle East.
